About Becky

Hello.

My name is Becky, I am a 32 year-old writer from London.

This is my friend Stickman.

about2

Together we say things about a lot of things, from the serious to the not-so serious.

I have published a book from this blog. It’s really nice. People have said some super things about it.

I have a little book of short stories published, too.

You can get me at beckysaysthings@gmail.com if you’d like me to say things on your own blogs or to write some stuff for you, or if you just want to comment on the weather.

This is the most brief and succinct I will ever be about anything, so make the most of it.

I am enormously grateful to everyone who takes the time to read and comment on my blog. You’re all brilliant.

  1. I remember a teacher once telling me that I should try to be less wordy. I thought, “Words are fun; why use less?” Clearly I missed the point entirely.

  2. Hi Becky, how’s the course going at Kingston? I love that town, would love to up sticks and move there to be honest. Well done on publishing your short stories. That’s on my to do list after Gunshot Glitter’s out. I plan to do it with Bookbaby : ) Good luck with the opus, you’ll be stoked when you write ‘The End’. x

  5. What a wonderful intro my friend, I was going to
say Rebecca there but as you haven’t been naughty
I figured that it would be incredibly rude of me 😦

Just kidding… I will have to take the tour later as I
am just about to give the Zombies a ticking off for
eating all the pancakes and… Well as you can see
I am totally crackers… However if you would like a
glimpse of my Space I will try to send you an invite,
you never know it could be the best Space that you
have ever been invited to? 🙂 Have a great start to
    your Wednesday Becky 🙂

  25. I sent out a bit of love for Becky Says Things on BLUNTmoms

    This ode to bloggers:
    http://www.bluntmoms.com/bloggers-cool/

    • Bloody heck, writing the next Britcom?? That’s the nicest thing anyone’s EVER said! Why AREN’T I writing the next great Britcom?????
Thank you so much for the Becky Says Things love, I’m massively chuffed 🙂

  26. It would be a kindness if you would leave a comment on Blunt Moms taking a bow. Because your writing is fab. Carry on old girl.

    • Done! I tried to leave one the other day but my computer gave me that horrifyingly irritating message ‘Your connection timed out’, and it made me so irked I stormed off in a huff. Anger management here I come…
      Thank you again xx

  27. I’m sorry but I nominated you for a Liebster award. Couldn’t help myself.

  34. Your blog made my day! I nominated you for The Sunshine Award. Here is the URL to my post “Spreading Sunshine.” http://careymclaughlin.wordpress.com/2014/02/27/spreading-sunshine/

I look forward to reading/listening more of Becky Says Things.
    Thanks.

  35. Hi Becky, This is so clever. When I first started my blog and did a few doodles, I gave the credits to Mr. Sharpie, Mr. Brite-Liner, and Mz. Bic. I may resurrect a doodle now and again since Stickman inspires. Love the across the pond language bounce. I spent time in Great Britain. I am from the Deep South–not too Yank sounding. I would toss off a little Scarlett O’Hara (thank you, Vivian Leigh), and that seemed to solve some confusion. I look forward to reading more. –Catherine (http://randomstoryteller.com)

    • Ohhhhhhhh God your comment has made me SO happy, because you managed to do an across the pond language bounce!! The phrase ‘toss off’ in England means….um… you know that thing men do when they’re by themselves and may be a little frustrated or want to look at some pictures of pretty girls and they … well, you know…. that’s what ‘toss off’ means in England 🙂 🙂
On that note, thank you very much for your lovely comment, and I am LITERALLY THRILLED to be in conversation with someone from the Deep South because I have ALWAYS wanted to go there and ALWAYS wanted to be Scarlett O’Hara and ALWAYS wanted to get away with saying ‘fiddly-dee’ at least eight times a day.
      Thank you for reading!

  36. Becky and Stickman, I’ve decided to follow you.

  37. A Randon Teacher

Damn, bloddy website has gone viral around the world. Well done Becky, proud of you but not the stick man.

  38. I like Stickman – is he a cool alter ego or purely your cool sidekick – the stick who keeps you on task?
    AnnMarie

  39. Becky….where did you go??? Need more Stickman posts!

  40. OK, Becky. Don’t send Stickman to assassinate me but I have just mentioned you in a blog tour, which is sort of different to an award, but sort of the same. Check it out. And please don’t let the torch die. No pressure…
    http://ahdad.com/2014/06/05/going-on-tour-without-actually-going-anywhere/

    • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I LET THE TORCH DIE!!!! I HAVE BEEN ON HOLIDAY AND ONLY JUST LOGGED BACK ON!!! I am so sorry….. 😦 You said such lovely things and I basically THREW it back in your face from my hotel in Spain. I am deeply apologetic and saddened by my heinous disregard for the torch. I am sorry 😦

      • You can always blame it on Stickman, as you probably left him I charge. Didn’t take him with you did you?

And remember, it is never too late to light the torch…

  41. Dear Becky

You rock like a rock cake rocking out to ‘Rock around the clock’ whilst eating a stick of rock and watching ‘School of Rock’
I am a little bit in love with you.
When will you be saying more things?
    x

    • I know, I’ve been HIDEOUSLY remiss recently. I’ve been on holiday which has inspired my next bunch of things to say, so hopefully VERY SOON.
Thank you for your lovely comment and your excellent influx of the word ‘rock’ x

      • I didn’t realise that my comment on your ‘Becky says things about music’ page had uploaded (it just vanished when I typed it out so I assumed some technical error). Embarrassingly not so and I have now professed love on two seperate occasions. Whoops!
        #Notacrazystalker #Honest
        😉

  42. Well, you’ve completely disappeared off the radar again……am really missing my Stickman fix! Also miss you on my list of cheerful followers. Counting on your return to the blogosphere soon! You are missed!

    • Hi Lucilla! I did indeed meet your husband in a pub (and yes that does sound dodgier than it was!) – and thank you SO much for your lovely comment, that’s absolutely lovely to hear! 🙂 I’ve just received your order and will post it tomorrow.

I think I am already in love with you Becky…..

  55. Ah, love this about me!! I just stumbled onto your site from a reblog and excited to dig in, you seem awesome!

  56. Richard Ayoade, David Mitchell, and Becky Mayhew are my three favorite
purveyors of British humor. (But if you want to stay in the top three you’d step it up because Greg Davies is on your ass.)

  57. Hey Becky…I could swear that you had posted something about a traffic jam…I waited to read it because I wanted to savour it, take my time with it (like I usually do) and now it is gone. What happened? Did I dream it? Will it come back?

YOU say things!
