About

Short version:

  • I am 35.
  • I live in London.
  • I love making people smile.
  • I often listen to action movie soundtracks on my way to work and pretend I’m being chased.
  • I have been writing a novel for approximately seven billion years. I aim to finish it by the year 8951.
  • I hate cats.

Long version:

See above, but add wine, a few egg sandwiches, and an acute inability to buy the right-sized bin bags.

I am enormously grateful to everyone who takes the time to read and comment on my blog. You’re all brilliant.

  1. I remember a teacher once telling me that I should try to be less wordy. I thought, “Words are fun; why use less?” Clearly I missed the point entirely.

  2. Hi Becky, how’s the course going at Kingston? I love that town, would love to up sticks and move there to be honest. Well done on publishing your short stories. That’s on my to do list after Gunshot Glitter’s out. I plan to do it with Bookbaby : ) Good luck with the opus, you’ll be stoked when you write ‘The End’. x

  3. Congratulations, Becky!

    1. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am almost insensible with gratitude about this, and I will definitely be posting some awards once I’ve finished being so stupidly busy. Thank you so much, this is a true honour 🙂

  4. What a wonderful intro my friend, I was going to
say Rebecca there but as you haven’t been naughty
I figured that it would be incredibly rude of me 😦

Just kidding… I will have to take the tour later as I
am just about to give the Zombies a ticking off for
eating all the pancakes and… Well as you can see
I am totally crackers… However if you would like a
glimpse of my Space I will try to send you an invite,
you never know it could be the best Space that you
have ever been invited to? 🙂 Have a great start to
    your Wednesday Becky 🙂

      1. You are welcome to call
by anytime that you wish 🙂
It is Private though, so if
        you cannot gain entrance
just knock and I will open
        the gates 🙂

        Happy Valentine’s Day…

  5. Hi Becky, Hi Stickman.

My name is Kevin Gillespie, I do, MUCH prefer to be called Kev however. :).

I live in Cardiff, & am now Following your Blog. 🙂

    Best Wishes. :).

  6. I’m still learning how the whole “pingback” thing works, so I thought I’d stop off here too and tell you that I’ve nominated you for a bunch of awards today. I linked back to your blog in my post – so look out for it 🙂

  7. Hi, Becky,
You have a great blog. Would you be interested in doing a brief, email interview on my site, dentaleggs.com? It’s about dentistry… are you laughing?

  8. Dropping by to say thank you for visiting my blog and I was happy I did because I am so in love your stickman! I also have stick figures in my blog so it’s nice to meet a fellow “artist” 😀 Looking forward to reading more of your posts! Ah dad was right, you are hilarious. 🙂

  9. Holy crap. I’m so floored you visited my site let alone tagging along. Thank you! Honestly. Thank you.

    Eva

  10. Hey, Good to see you…Your blog is so unique and most importantly Humorous !
I’m 3 weeks to this blogging thing now…Glad I came across you.
Looking forward to your more work 🙂

    1. Bloody heck, writing the next Britcom?? That’s the nicest thing anyone’s EVER said! Why AREN’T I writing the next great Britcom?????
Thank you so much for the Becky Says Things love, I’m massively chuffed 🙂

    1. Done! I tried to leave one the other day but my computer gave me that horrifyingly irritating message ‘Your connection timed out’, and it made me so irked I stormed off in a huff. Anger management here I come…
      Thank you again xx

    1. I don’t want to pour water on any budding romance, but I’d advise that you stay away from Stickman. He’s a complete nightmare. He’s dangerously unhinged. But, it’s your life.
Glad you enjoy my silly said things 🙂

  11. Hi Becky, This is so clever. When I first started my blog and did a few doodles, I gave the credits to Mr. Sharpie, Mr. Brite-Liner, and Mz. Bic. I may resurrect a doodle now and again since Stickman inspires. Love the across the pond language bounce. I spent time in Great Britain. I am from the Deep South–not too Yank sounding. I would toss off a little Scarlett O’Hara (thank you, Vivian Leigh), and that seemed to solve some confusion. I look forward to reading more. –Catherine (http://randomstoryteller.com)

    1. Ohhhhhhhh God your comment has made me SO happy, because you managed to do an across the pond language bounce!! The phrase ‘toss off’ in England means….um… you know that thing men do when they’re by themselves and may be a little frustrated or want to look at some pictures of pretty girls and they … well, you know…. that’s what ‘toss off’ means in England 🙂 🙂
On that note, thank you very much for your lovely comment, and I am LITERALLY THRILLED to be in conversation with someone from the Deep South because I have ALWAYS wanted to go there and ALWAYS wanted to be Scarlett O’Hara and ALWAYS wanted to get away with saying ‘fiddly-dee’ at least eight times a day.
      Thank you for reading!

  12. Damn, bloddy website has gone viral around the world. Well done Becky, proud of you but not the stick man.

      1. Oh, am JUST SO GLAD you haven’t disappeared! It’s fine to wait, but just didn’t want to wait in vain! Look forward to more of your good humour! Thanks for the follow too!

    1. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I LET THE TORCH DIE!!!! I HAVE BEEN ON HOLIDAY AND ONLY JUST LOGGED BACK ON!!! I am so sorry….. 😦 You said such lovely things and I basically THREW it back in your face from my hotel in Spain. I am deeply apologetic and saddened by my heinous disregard for the torch. I am sorry 😦

      1. You can always blame it on Stickman, as you probably left him I charge. Didn’t take him with you did you?

And remember, it is never too late to light the torch…

  13. Dear Becky

You rock like a rock cake rocking out to ‘Rock around the clock’ whilst eating a stick of rock and watching ‘School of Rock’
I am a little bit in love with you.
When will you be saying more things?
    x

    1. I know, I’ve been HIDEOUSLY remiss recently. I’ve been on holiday which has inspired my next bunch of things to say, so hopefully VERY SOON.
Thank you for your lovely comment and your excellent influx of the word ‘rock’ x

      1. I didn’t realise that my comment on your ‘Becky says things about music’ page had uploaded (it just vanished when I typed it out so I assumed some technical error). Embarrassingly not so and I have now professed love on two seperate occasions. Whoops!
        #Notacrazystalker #Honest
        😉

  14. Well, you’ve completely disappeared off the radar again……am really missing my Stickman fix! Also miss you on my list of cheerful followers. Counting on your return to the blogosphere soon! You are missed!

      1. You are very welcome. I hope by doing this more people discover your work–I know at least one person has found you because of my post–sorry, but I don’t have a lot of followers, so I can’t do so much for you–However, I am sure you will soon have a massive following.

  15. You met my husband in a pub (sounds dodgier than it was – there was another friend there!) and he bought your book. I read it yesterday from cover to cover and think it is genius.

    1. Hi Lucilla! I did indeed meet your husband in a pub (and yes that does sound dodgier than it was!) – and thank you SO much for your lovely comment, that’s absolutely lovely to hear! 🙂 I’ve just received your order and will post it tomorrow.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it and thank you again for your lovely comment (and for buying another copy!) 🙂

  16. Richard Ayoade, David Mitchell, and Becky Mayhew are my three favorite
purveyors of British humor. (But if you want to stay in the top three you’d step it up because Greg Davies is on your ass.)

  17. Hey Becky…I could swear that you had posted something about a traffic jam…I waited to read it because I wanted to savour it, take my time with it (like I usually do) and now it is gone. What happened? Did I dream it? Will it come back?

    1. Hey Anthony! Huge apologies about that, I suffered from some jolly old WordPress technical difficulties. Sigh. Watch this space for (hopefully) a new post coming soon!
Thank you for your lovely comment! 🙂
